I hope you weren't too attached to my hair

because if you were, I probably left you behind at the hairdresser's.

So: university is over for me.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about that yet.

While I was figuring it out, I spent three hours clearing my garden! Good for the mind and body. I de-housed some leggy creatures and re-housed some leaves. There was some ethnic cleansing. I was very strict. Worms: yes. They are the gardener's friend, merrily aerating the soil. Spiders, snails, centipedes, beetles, earwigs: no. These things are our enemies, and will be treated with extreme hostility (this prejudice is directly related to leg-amount and scurrying ability). I didn't get as far as the grass. I'm not brave enough to tackle that monster without having a responsible adult present.

I generated five bags of leaf-mould and patio-weeds, cleaned the barbeque, and shifted an awful lot of mouldy Economists (the journal, not the professionals). The next door neighbour told me off because our euclyptus trees are too high, so I'm having a look on eBay for a few grazing koalas to keep things under control. I've also bought a variety of candles (for lighting). Things are looking up!

Oh yeah, and does anyone know whether there's a hosepipe ban going on at the moment? In my own defence, I wasn't actually wasting precious resources by watering the grass, (it really doesn't need any encouragement), but I'm not sure "using a hosepipe as a rubbish pressure-washer to discourage moss on the patio" is going to stand up in court.

So, all in all, I've had a busy day! There is a reason for all this activity. But it remains the most closely guarded and delicious secret. Exciting!

Final final, finally.

Yeah, everyone's wishing me luck, but no one's offering to take the goddamn thing for me, are they?

Talk about fairweather friends.

Things which have happened:

Today, I got I.D.'d by someone younger than me.

That was four hours ago, and I still don't know what to think about it.

I still haven't got a dress, mind you.

Things I am enjoying today:

I'm not 'scene'. I don't have any tattoos. I don't listen to hardcore, I'm not straightedge. I don't like emo. I've never willingly been in a moshpit.

I don't even know what these things are called, but this is my collection. The top one is about 2mm and plastic. I bought this in Covent Garden last May. I was in Covent Garden because I'd been watching Sleater-Kinney by myself the night before. I'd had (semi) stretched lobes before this, but I had thought I'd grown out of all that after college. Apparantly not.

Still, I resisted any further change until January of this year, when I (re)discovered the blue thing in the middle. It's blue glass and a quite uneven 4mm. In theory this is too big a jump (from 2mm to 4mm), and I'm not recommending it unless really bored whilst writing essays.

But I am quite fickle, and I've been getting bored of the blue thing for a while now. I like it in aesthetic terms, but it seemed a bit prominent sometimes. It probably wasn't, because not one single person has ever commented on it, but still. I wanted a change. Luckily, Wildcat have a really ace selection of body jewellery and the best delivery ever.

So, now, I've got the bottom 5mm matt black glass spiral in my little earlobe. Black, I thought, would be less noticable, but also more classy if it was noticed. And, I like it, even though I was worried at first because it looked comparatively huge! Everything was fine though because the hole in my ear is huge, too.

And, that's it! Other people who wear these things piss me off because I hate all that poseur stuff (and the fact that they often have dreadlocks which I never had the guts to do).

Still, at least I'm not straightedge, right.

Things I have learned today:

1. Secure your parking permit to your dashboard if you intend to drive with the windows down on windy days.

2. Don't answer your phone. Ever.

3. I've had this tin of oil by-product for seven years and I'm too attached to it to throw it away.

4. Driving to campus, sitting indoors for four hours and driving home again will result in sunburn down one arm only.

5. Don't ask me to do things. I'll agree whole-heartedly, then go home and forget about them.

6. It's a goshdarned mystery where all my summer clothes have gone.

DEAR INTERNET

I know you don't owe me anything.

You've given me so much already.

And I know this is weird coming on the heels of the unnattractive no-makeup pictures.

But where can I buy a dress like this?

Hugs & kisses,

Lucy.
