Propects update
1) e-browsed Trinity College Dublin. Pros: love the idea of Dublin, the idea of a university college, and the idea of their linguistics course. Cons: what's the weather like in Dublin?; not sure linguistics is a career.
2) King's College London. Pros: love the idea of London; incredibly prestigious college; have a dedicated War Studies department. Cons: not a millionaire so probably not suited to London; what would I do with an MA in War Studies (apart from stage a successful coup).
3) Warwick Uni. Pros: great uni; marvellously ostentatious prospectus; good-sounding Politics MA. Cons: uni is three light years from civilisation and I would go crazy without a Primark; departments likely to be small and intolerant of indiscretions; would have to live in Leamington Spa or similar.

Durham teach inglesh. I could have a word.
I think they're on my list of things to come! But half the reason for doing an MA is getting to move to a new city, and I've been to Durham :)
Dublin is, I'd imagine, very like Nottingham weatherwise...
At the moment, it is raining however.
Trinity is a sweet campus, a typically good room (not sure about the flatmates) will run you anything from €500-600 a month in the city centre before bills but you could be like me and live out in the sticks, dependent on the vagaries of Dublin Bus (if you intend to be carless) for slightly cheaper...
It's up to you.
But then again, I'm not sure linguistics is a career either...
They have accommodation in Trinity now that I think of it, it may be a good deal cheaper!!!
A friend of mine went to Warwick, amazing university apparently, but a strong risk of suicide in the evening and at the weekend simply as something to do. It's either that or make the trip to Coventry apparently.
Linguistics def. not career. Academia only half a career, i.e. in that it gives you work, but it doesnt pay you.
Dublin: Irish. Bombs. Teeth.
Durham: Rah's. No bombs. Some teeth.
Warwick: Boring. Boring. Climbind wall. Boring.
Do economics. Do law. Its honestly quite easy, becase no-one really knows what its all about.
thos...
We only explode the bombs north of the border and in the UK... And now I remember why...
Eric for the last time there will be no law-studying.
I have to. Can you imagine a world without lawyers? What a terrible place.
I may have entered this conversation too late to be useful, but I believe Warwick is actually in Coventry, so actually only minutes from some form of civilisation, or at least as close as uni park was from nottingham centre...I may however be remembering it wrong...?
